« Euro 2008 in few weeks ! » › Monday, March 24th 2008

Hey everybody!

I hope that you're all doing good! I'm feeling good in
England, we played a lot these last few weeks.

First of all, I would like to talk about our game against England last February with the Swiss National Team. It was a real honnor for me to be the capitain of the team and  to play in this historical stadium with my team. Unfortunately, I had to leave the pitch after the half time due to an injury but I was still motivated to play. This week, we will play a new game with Switzerland against Germany for the preparation of the European Championship (EURO 2008). We are getting closer to the D-Day game against Czech Republic and we are very excited to play this first game. We know that a lot of people believe in us and we'll give our best.

We played few games in a row with Arsenal without taking any goals and it’s really good because it helps to keep up our spirits. We are still battling with Manchester United and Chelsea for the 1st place of the Premiership, we had a bad period these last weeks against Wigan, Middlesbrough and Chelsea but we are still confident to make a difference in the last games. I scored my second goal with Arsenal in February against Blackburn, it was an important game that we had to win. I hope to score a third time this season in the Emirates Stadium. The negative point during this period was the injury that Eduardo had few weeks ago, we are all sad about this situation and we wish him a good recovery.

Beside the Premiership, we are performing very good in Champions League, we won against the AC Milan in the beginning of March in Italy. It was a great game in a great stadium (San Siro) and nobody was expecting this result (won 2-0). We are playing the next round against Liverpool, it will be special to play against an english team because we are playing in the same championship and second reason, we are going to play 3 games in a row against them (2x Champions League and 1x Premiership). We won’t also have to travel a lot comparing to our last trips in Champions League.

To resume, our goal is to stay focused until the end of the season to win the Premiership and realize the same performance as 2 years ago in Champions League.

I would like finally to thank you for all your messages. It’s always a great pleasure to read your letters. I will post my next message in April. Take care and stay tuned on PhilippeSenderos.com !!

« A good January's month » › Wednesday, January 30th 2008

Hey everybody!

I would like to apologize for not giving any news in the last months but as you may have noticed, our schedule was busy at the beginning of the month. But I would like to wish you a Happy and Prosperous year, and I would like also to thank you for all your support in 2007 via your letters, e-mails and messages.

Beside that, we are achieving a great season with Arsenal. We are battling against Manchester United for the 1st place in the Premiership. We're playing also against AC Milan in the first knock out round of the Champions League and we're still in the race for the FA Cup. We have to play also without our African players who are competiting in the CAN (Kolo Touré and Eboué are playing for Ivory Coast and Alex Song is playing for Cameroun). Our schedule is getting interesting in the next months because we will be able to rotate our squad. It's a good opportunity for me to play a few games in a row.

Concerning the Swiss National team, we are having some great games planned before the Euro 2008 in Switzerland, we will play against England on February 6th. I won't have to travel a lot for this game and it will be a good experience to play against them. It will also be the first game for Fabio Capello as the head coach for the England team. I'm really excited to play this game.

I'll give you more news about me after my game on February 6th.
Thank you for  your support.

« Good season start... » › Sunday, September 16th 2007

Hello everyone,

Now that the season has started, I wanted to take a moment to give you some news about me . We have started the season very well with 13 points after 5 games. We have had 2 good results in the Champions League qualifier against Sparta Prague.  We now got Sevilla, Steaua Bucarest and Slavia Prague in the group stages, starting on Wednesday the 19th at home against Sevilla which is going to be a very exciting encounter to start with. This year, we really feel we can do well in all the competitions, there is great commitment from everyone and the new players like Eduardo, Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski, look like they have adapted really well already. On the last day of the transfer the club have brought another young talent, Lassana Diarra from Chelsea. We have a good atmosphere in the squad, that can be one of the keys to success in a long season.

Also a little word about the national team. In august we played Holland in Geneva in a preparation game for the euro 2008, which you might know we are hosting with our neighbour Austria. It was awesome to play in Geneva in front of my friends and family . It's always special to come back home. We had a very good game, we won 2-1. It is also the first time in over a decade that  the Swiss Team beat a top ten team in the FIFA  ranking. In September we then beat Chili 2-1 in Vienna and lost against Japan 4-3 after being 2-0 up at half time. The second result was pretty disappointing because we were having a good game but we are preparing and we will not make the same mistakes at the Euro.

During my last trip to Geneva, I also had the opportunity to meet Thabo Sefolosha, for the ones who don't know, he is the first ever Swiss basketball player to play in the NBA. He plays with a very good friend of mine, Luol Deng, with the Chicago Bulls. It's great to see Swiss sportsmen do well abroad on the international stage. Our biggest example is Roger Federer. I stayed up all night to watch him play in his US OPEN final, I was delighted and proud to be Swiss watching him win.

I would like to thank you all, I receive a lot of letters and photos for me to sign it feels great to have your support. Keep coming to my official website, I'll keep you up to date shortly.

Take care
